Four JCDRILL JCD1000 Diamond Core Drilling Rigs Shipped to Africa

Four JCDRILL JCD1000 diamond core drilling rigs have been loaded into two 40-foot high-cube containers and shipped to Africa by sea.

The rigs were prepared with hydraulic rod-handling equipment and separate hoisting systems for drill pipes and core retrieval.

Configuration for Core Drilling

Each JCD1000 is powered by a 132 kW six-cylinder Cummins diesel engine. Rated drilling depths are 500 meters with HQ tooling and 1,100 meters with NQ tooling, depending on ground conditions and drilling configuration.

The rigs feature a 6.6-meter extended mast for handling 3-meter drill rods and support drilling angles from 45° to 90°.

Each unit is equipped with two winches. The main winch handles drill pipes, while the wireline winch retrieves the inner tube containing the core sample. This arrangement allows core retrieval without pulling the full drill string out of the hole.

Double hydraulic clamps hold the drill pipes in place, while a hydraulic wrench assists with making and breaking rod connections during installation and removal.

Hydraulic System and Controls

The JCD1000 combines the drill head, feed system, hoisting equipment and clamps in a hydraulically operated system. An integrated valve block and simplified hydraulic circuit help keep the system compact and accessible for maintenance. Rotation speed can be adjusted to suit drilling requirements.

With loading complete, all four rigs are now on their way to Africa.
